Interview blues...........

Haan....this is my chosen topic for the day....i have chosen to write about it because i am currently going thr this phase due to my failed Singapore trip......i really need a job to keep things going....so been attending quite a few so called unsuccessful(why becos i couldnt bag any offer so far) interview calls...whats so disgusting is not the fact that i am not being selected but it is way the interviews are being conducted or poor recruitment and feedback system thats operating these days in IT industry..i have not come to this conclusion just with one or two....i have been noticing quite a few things with this whole recruitment process which in my opinion needs definite change or improvement so that the people are not getting frustated at the end of the day even though they are not getting selected.to elaborate things the very simple thing that i annoys people is the walk in system....they advertise that walk in with resume and walk out with offer .....but this whole system is a real chaotic stuff...though i agree to the fact that we need a job so we need to go thr the interview process and also go thr some stress interviews...but these days its really testing people's patience...in one of the walkins i have attended i was really waiting for nearly 5+ hours but still my CV was not thr with the initial screening process also...when i agreed to go for this particular interview the consultant (i need to write a seperate blog regarding this IT recruitment firms and consultants for the kind of service they provide) told me that my cv was pre screened and the whole of the process may take 4-5 hrs...so i was prepared for it..but only whn i reached there i did realise that the CVs will be screened on the spot and then sent to the panel....so the consultants actually to increase thier count and get thier commission simply send people by giving false information....and on another occasion where i had got a call for a urgent opening for which if selected they infact asked me to join in a weeks time which i was also ready...i had attended two levels of interview cleared it on same day and for the third level the very DM(delivery manager) in charge directly called me and even asked me that after the client interview to come to office next day to take KT(even before releasing the offer) and then after one or two days of KT i can join a week later completing the HR formalities...he was really making me feel like coming aboard the very next day and take the work....but then things really changed after the client interview...once the interview is done he promised to call me the next day morning...but its really one week now i still did not get any calll....what so annoying in this incident is not the fact that i did not get the offer..but then atleast some amount of professionalism...atleast a curtosy call to say that things did not go on well or so wouldnt have made some waht feel better than being treated like this...infact the position that was available was not 100% suitable for me...he knew it at the time he got my cv....but after knowing this and taking me to three rounds and client interview and all he did not turn up to be a professional or gentleman to make atleast one curtosy call...but this is reality and how the industry works...if u need something or someone u go to watever extent....but when u dont need it u really dont even care about it...this sucks..and finally one more interesting thing as i said earlier i wanted to tak about is the IT recruiters who call and arrnge the interview on behalf of the company...i do agree to the fact that people need not be IT savvy to source people for a job opening..but then i suggest people who do this kinda sourcing shud really spend some time in understand the technology or the profile for what they are looking for candidates...by simply looking for key words and scheduling interviews is really waste of time for both candidates and the technical panels..this is not a issue with the external recruiters but also the company rec hr who do this sourcing..for example there may be application or a tool which may have different components to it...people may have exp in one fo the component but the actual reqt s for another component...but these people merely looking for the application name and just send the cv for the interview...after calling both the end will realise it was a right profile for the job opening...its a mere waste of time....this is something i go thr a lot....they just see cognos in profile n call...i need to ask the qns to them which they are supposed to know before they call people....but they work in a a lousy fashion..they dont even want to know what it is..even if we explain they dont have the patient to hear us...they simply say this cognos is there in ur cv i wl send the profile to client...but what in cognos i have done and what client want they dont even want to clarify......
so this is how my experiences have been going so far and its never been a pleasure offlate to take up interview .....really hoping for getting something without these hasles...but i know that is too much to ask for...but then if the trouble is little less also i am very happy to accept it...so i wish my self good luck to fight with the blues and land up into something ASAP...
ciao.....................
